Shavkat Mirziyoyev launches construction of IT Park in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in a solemn ceremony laying the first stone for the construction of a new IT Park on the territory of the Yangi Namangan town in the Davlatabad district.

The head of state emphasized that the accelerated development of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies across all regions of the country, alongside the creation of high-paying jobs, are key priorities of the current reforms. The implementation of this project is being carried out in accordance with the presidential decree on additional measures to develop digital service exports, dated 26 February 2024.

The new technological complex, valued at US$117 million, is being constructed in partnership with Chinese investors. The project in New Namangan kicks off a large-scale regional initiative under which similar digital hubs will be built in five other cities of the republic: Samarkand, Chirchik, Nurafshan, Urgench, and Navoi.

On the designated 1.7-hectare land plot, the foreign partners will construct a modern 17-story building with a total area of approximately 18,000 square meters. The facility will be delivered on a turnkey basis, spanning the full cycle from design to internal technical equipment.

The complex will house educational and export centers, coworking spaces, offices, a startup accelerator, and service zones dedicated to assisting foreign companies. This will establish a unified IT ecosystem and provide employment for two thousand young specialists. According to projections, the launch of the IT Park will bring the annual volume of digital services in the region to 500 billion soums, and the export figure to US$30 million.

Concurrently, a ceremony was held at the site to launch already completed production facilities and kickstart the construction of new industrial capacities in the Namangan region. The leader of the republic reported that since the beginning of the year, the region has attracted US$2 billion in foreign direct investment.

Currently, 20 enterprises with a total value of US$1.8 billion are being launched in cooperation with business communities from China, Turkey, India, and Russia. These plants will establish the production of more than 30 types of products across the pharmaceutical, electrical engineering, chemical, light industry, food industry, and construction materials sectors.

These projects are expected to provide an increase of 3.6 trillion soums to the regional economy, boost exports by US$200 million, and deliver 400 billion soums in tax revenues to the treasury. Additionally, the implementation of another 28 industrial, tourism, and housing projects worth US$4 billion is beginning in Namangan.

The head of state thanked the international partners for their assistance and noted that Uzbekistan's potential in the field of artificial intelligence is estimated by experts at US$10 billion, adding that this resource must be transformed into real jobs and high-margin products.
