Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and France have discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries’ technology and startup ecosystems.
The talks were held in Paris on the sidelines of the International Space Summit, with the participation of Uzbekistan’s Digital Technologies Minister Sherzod Shermatov and Bobur Khojaev, head of the Department of Financial Technologies, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence at the Presidential Administration.
The Uzbek delegation met with Julie Huguet, director of the central office of La French Tech. The sides discussed expanding French startups’ access to the Uzbek market and providing Uzbek technology companies with greater access to markets in France and Europe.
Particular attention was given to strengthening institutional cooperation between the two countries’ startup ecosystems and La French Tech’s key programmes aimed at supporting technology companies, helping them enter international markets and connecting them with investors and other participants in the technology ecosystem.
The sides also discussed preparing a memorandum of understanding between IT Park Uzbekistan and La French Tech.
They also explored the possibility of launching La French Tech operations in Uzbekistan and establishing a local representation in the country.
In addition, the participants discussed using IT Park Uzbekistan’s Soft Landing and Startup Exchange programmes to attract French startups to the Uzbek market.
La French Tech representatives were also invited to participate in the international ICT WEEK Uzbekistan event.
