Uzbekistan and France Expand Cultural Cooperation and Museum Exchange

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Culture and Arts Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, held an official meeting with Catherine Pégard, Minister of Culture of the French Republic.

The parties conducted a detailed review of the current state of bilateral ties and discussed the progress of promising joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

As one of the key practical steps toward closer relations between the two nations, the officials reviewed organizational matters connected with the upcoming opening of the French Cultural Center in Tashkent. Additionally, priority attention during the dialogue was dedicated to the systematic development of inter-museum cooperation and the formulation of effective approaches to preserving national cultural heritage.

The heads of the agencies focused extensively on the substantive agendas of major exhibition events scheduled for international venues. The meeting participants discussed in detail the ongoing preparations for a large-scale exposition dedicated to the history and traditions of Uzbek national dance art.

A separate topic of negotiations covered the medium-term prospects of organizing a specialized exhibition of the Uzbek avant-garde in Paris. The core of this exhibition will feature unique masterpieces from the collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky.

The sides also outlined vectors for deepening partnership contacts between the Foundation and leading French cultural institutions. Following the conversation, Gayane Umerova and Catherine Pégard reaffirmed their firm mutual intention to continue the active and consistent implementation of joint programs aimed at enriching the cultural dialogue between Uzbekistan and France.
