Huawei Introduces GigaUplink Solution to Drive Mobile AI Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A breakthrough technology introduced at MWC Shanghai 2026 is set to significantly improve the uplink performance of mobile networks and establish a foundation for the massive rollout of mobile artificial intelligence services.
During the MWC Shanghai 2026 exhibition, Huawei hosted the Mobile AI Industry Summit, which brought together telecom operators, sector experts, and technology partners. The central focus of the discussion was the evolution of mobile AI, which participants agreed demands fundamentally new approaches to network development—most notably, a major expansion of the data uplink capacity. Following the summit, Huawei officially unveiled its new GigaUplink solution, designed to modernize network infrastructure and prepare carriers for the mobile AI era.
Uplink Emerges as the New Driver for Network Evolution
Forum participants observed that the proliferation of generative AI, smart wearables, XR applications, and other intelligent services is redefining traditional mobile traffic architecture. While download speeds (downlink) previously consumed the majority of network resources, the efficient processing of data uploaded from devices to the network (uplink) is increasingly critical today.
Dr. Wen Ku, Chairman of the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), proposed developing a unified evaluation framework for mobile AI services, comparable to the widely accepted Mean Opinion Score (MOS) used for voice communications. He noted that establishing universal criteria would represent a major step forward for the industry.
Barbara Pareglio, Senior Technical Director at the GSMA, emphasized that mobile AI is shifting the nature of loads on carrier networks, generating fresh business avenues. She pointed out that enhancing uplink capabilities, lowering latencies, and ensuring seamless coordination between devices, the network, and cloud infrastructure have become key priorities.
GigaUplink Multiplies Mobile Network Capabilities
Presenting the new solution, Zeng Chuang, President of Huawei's Wireless FDD Product Line, pointed out that mid-band spectrum is turning into one of the most vital assets for the growth of mobile AI. According to him, this specific frequency range allows operators to achieve broad network coverage, high capacity, and ultra-low data latency simultaneously. Leveraging coordination between TDD and FDD bands optimizes the distribution of radio frequency assets and ensures reliable service performance even at the cell edge.
Huawei’s GigaUplink solution integrates next-generation multi-antenna systems alongside intelligent network management algorithms. According to company data, the technology delivers:
- A fivefold increase in uplink capacity;
- An improvement in network coverage quality by approximately 10 dB;
- More stable performance for mobile AI services.
At the heart of the solution are upgraded 8T8R and Massive MIMO multi-antenna systems utilizing spatial multiplexing and beamforming technologies. This is complemented by the GigaGreen architecture, which simplifies ultra-wideband deployments.
AI-Driven Network Management
Developers paid close attention to intelligent resource management within the network. The GigaUplink solution relies on three core groups of collaboration algorithms:
- Intelligent radio frequency spectrum allocation across data channels;
- Dynamic device-network coordination that aligns parameters based on current operating conditions and device capabilities;
- Inter-site network collaboration for joint signal reception and smart interference suppression across base stations to enhance connection stability.
According to Huawei representatives, this architecture enables operators to substantially boost the efficiency of existing infrastructure without facing a sharp spike in capital expenditures.
Forging a Mobile AI Ecosystem
Huawei stressed that the future evolution of the technology will be pursued in close cooperation with industry standard groups, carriers, and hardware manufacturers. The company plans to actively participate in defining global standards, expanding the mobile AI ecosystem, and rolling out next-generation services.
According to Huawei, the continuous refinement of GigaUplink solutions will secure high-quality mobile AI experiences and serve as a cornerstone for the growth of the telecommunications industry in the coming years.
