Intertech Plans to Mine 25–30 Tonnes of Gold in Kyzylkum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The US company Intertech Process Technology intends to launch a large-scale program in Uzbekistan to deploy a network of modular autonomous gold mining plants in the Kyzylkum desert. The president of the company, Matthew Gradowski, announced this in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 television channel during the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
According to Gradowski, the implementation of the program will allow for the extraction of an additional 25 to 30 tonnes of gold per year, which amounts to approximately US$5 billion in monetary terms. The company is already working with the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine and the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, which are the largest gold mining enterprises in the country.
The head of Intertech referenced statements by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who previously called the Kyzylkum a "treasury" of Uzbekistan, and characterized the new program as the "key to this treasury."
Gradowski also noted the favorable business climate in the republic, attributing it in part to the relationship between the presidents of the two countries and to the C5+1 platform, which he described as a convenient tool for American business. According to his assessment, Uzbekistan is the most advanced country in Central Asia in terms of conditions for foreign investors.
Intertech Process Technology specializes in mining technologies, ore processing, and the supply of modular plants for the extraction of gold, copper, and silver. The company's portfolio includes projects for the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, including the Marjanbulak gold extraction factory, as well as assisting the combine in obtaining Good Delivery status from the London Bullion Market Association. Additionally, the company is mentioned among the participants of the consortium for the development of the Uch-Kulach polymetallic deposit in the Jizzakh region.
At the end of 2025, the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine increased its gold production to 98.2 tonnes, a growth of 2.1%. President Mirziyoyev announced plans in late December to implement major projects at gold and silver deposits with the aim of bringing total gold production to 175 tonnes by 2030.
