Eight Uzbek Citizens Killed in Drone Attack in Nizhnekamsk

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Eight Uzbek citizens were killed on the morning of 10 August in a drone attack on several facilities in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, Russia. Several other Uzbek citizens sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalised, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

According to preliminary information from the ministry, the victims were Uzbek citizens working as construction workers at a construction company in Nizhnekamsk.

Following an instruction from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers established a government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ochilbek Ramatov. The commission has been tasked with visiting the injured citizens and ensuring they receive the necessary assistance, arranging the repatriation of the victims’ bodies on a special flight and providing comprehensive support to their families.

A special working group comprising representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Migration Agency and other relevant agencies has been sent to Russia.

Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Kazan and the Migration Agency have already arrived at the scene and are coordinating with the Russian authorities.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations said necessary measures are currently being taken to assist the injured and arrange the return of the deceased Uzbek citizens to Uzbekistan.
