Uzbekistan Placed Third at Asian U23 Athletics Championships
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The national team of Uzbekistan placed third in the overall team standings at the Asian U23 Athletics Championships, which concluded in Ordos, China. Following the competitions, Uzbek track and field athletes won 10 medals, including five gold, four silver, and one bronze.
On the final day of the tournament, the national team added two gold medals and one bronze medal to its tally. Amir Nagaev became the Asian champion after winning the high jump event, while Sharifa Davronova won the triple jump competition. Ugiloy Norboeva secured the bronze medal in the heptathlon.
Based on the final results of the championships, the team from Uzbekistan placed behind only the teams from China and Japan in the team standings.
Gold medals for the national team were also secured by Jonbibi Hukmova, who won the 400-meter and 800-meter races, and Valeriya Gorbatova, who placed first in the high jump.
The silver medalists of the championships were Nurkhon Ochilova in the 400-meter hurdles, Barnokhon Sayfullayeva in the high jump, Ayyubkhon Fayozov in the hammer throw, and Ibrokhim Makhkamov in the triple jump. Ugiloy Norboeva contributed the bronze medal to the team by placing third in the heptathlon.
