Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has reviewed a response from State Assets Management Agency Director S. Murodov to a parliamentary inquiry on the ongoing privatization of state property. Following the meeting, lawmakers took the response into consideration.

The document said the scale of state asset privatization in Uzbekistan has increased annually in recent years. At the same time, the introduction of modern mechanisms aligned with international practice has enabled a gradual reduction in the number of enterprises with state participation.

The agency provided information on the implementation of presidential decrees and resolutions concerning the management and privatization of state property, the implementation of privatization programmes, and support for businesses during the sale of state assets.

According to the response, most of the targets set for the sale of state assets and land plots, as well as for securing proceeds, were fulfilled. The agency provided detailed explanations for the tasks that were not completed.

The document separately outlined the results of meeting the targets set for 2025. Six of the seven established indicators were achieved. The target for transferring proceeds from the sale of state assets to the republican budget was not fully met. The reasons for failing to meet this indicator were set out in the response to the parliamentary inquiry.

The agency also provided information on measures to support businesses during the sale of state assets and land plots, as well as the leasing of state-owned real estate. Benefits were applied to the sale of state-owned real estate and stakes and shares, the sale of non-agricultural land plots and the leasing of state-owned real estate.

During the discussion, lawmakers focused on further accelerating the privatization of state assets and increasing the investment appeal of assets offered for sale. They also discussed the need to ensure openness and transparency in the sale processes.

In addition, deputies put forward proposals for the effective use of vacant state-owned properties and further simplification of mechanisms for selling land plots and real estate to businesses.

Following the review, lawmakers noted that the response contained detailed information on the issues raised in the parliamentary inquiry and took it into consideration.
