Uzbekistan and South Korea Discuss Rice Farming Digitalization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A meeting took place at the Rice Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan with Kim Sang-hyun, Director of the International Agricultural Cooperation Center of the Macro Agricultural Policy Division of the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan reported.

The parties discussed the digitalization of the sector, the application of artificial intelligence technologies, and the development of scientific cooperation.

Abdullo Mansurov, Director of the Institute, presented the core activities of the institution to the South Korean delegation. In particular, he highlighted scientific research in rice cultivation, the development of new rice varieties, the creation of modern agricultural technologies, and measures to strengthen integration between science and production.

The digital transformation of rice farming was a key focus of the meeting. Participants discussed opportunities for applying artificial intelligence technologies to increase rice cultivation efficiency and improve crop condition monitoring.

Specifically, the parties considered the prospect of creating a modern digital platform to identify and forecast potential issues during the rice-growing process in advance. The platform is also expected to be used for the remote monitoring of crop conditions, optimization of agrotechnical measures, and yield forecasting.

Special attention was paid to integrating research results into a digital database. The parties also exchanged views on introducing modern technologies into rice-growing practice and improving the qualifications of specialists and young scientists.

Another topic of discussion was expanding the exchange of experience between scientists from Uzbekistan and South Korea. Following the meeting, the parties outlined promising areas for developing digital and innovative technologies in rice farming, as well as potential avenues for implementing joint scientific projects.

In addition, participants agreed to focus on enhancing the professional potential of specialists and further developing scientific cooperation between the two countries.
