Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — As part of the President of Uzbekistan’s initiatives to attract direct foreign investment and comprehensively develop the country’s tourism potential, Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekistan temir yollari") has launched a large-scale investment project: the creation of the luxury tourist train The Samarkand Express.
The project, spanning the years 2024–2026, envisions a total investment volume of US$25 million, including US$10 million in foreign direct investment planned for 2025.
To date, the exterior construction of the first luxury carriage has been completed. It is scheduled to be shipped to Italy for full interior outfitting in line with modern standards of comfort and design.
Authorities involved in the project have been instructed to ensure efficient, transparent, and expedited customs procedures, as well as to create favorable conditions for foreign investors.
The Samarkand Express is set to become a new symbol of high-end tourism in Uzbekistan, enhancing the country’s international image as a premier travel destination.
