Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan led by Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Davron Vakhabov visited Egyptian company Elsewedy Watanya. The delegation included about 200 farmers and entrepreneurs, who studied modern irrigation technologies and their potential application in Uzbekistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan reported.
Elsewedy Watanya specializes in modern irrigation technologies. The company’s 240,000-square-metre plant produces more than 2,400 central pivot irrigation systems annually.
More than 500 engineers and technical specialists work at the facility. According to the company, its technologies have contributed to the development of 190,000 hectares of land.
Members of the Uzbek delegation reviewed the central pivot irrigation systems produced by the company, their operating principles, water and energy-saving capabilities, and the effectiveness of their use on large agricultural areas.
Farmers showed particular interest in Egypt’s experience in bringing desert and newly developed land into agricultural use.
During the visit, the farmers and entrepreneurs also discussed with Elsewedy Watanya specialists the potential application of the technologies in Uzbekistan, service and maintenance arrangements, technology transfer and implementation of joint projects.
