Uzbekistan judokas take third at world championships

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan won six medals and finished third in the team standings following the individual events at the World Junior Judo Championships in Ecuador, the Uzbekistan Judo Federation said.

On the final day of the individual competition, Jurabek Eshpulatov reached the final in the under-90 kg category and won the silver medal.

Uzbekistan’s medal tally includes one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Iroda Sirojiddinova won gold in the under-40 kg category, while Eshpulatov took silver in the under-90 kg division.

The bronze medals were won by Bobur Yusupov in the under-55 kg category, Bekhruzbek Usmonov in the under-73 kg category, Alina Kolyucheva in the under-44 kg category and Charos Hikmatova in the under-48 kg category.

After the individual events, the world championships in Ecuador will continue with the mixed-team competition. The team event is scheduled to take place today.
