Uzbekistan Explores South Korean Expertise in Biopharmaceuticals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives from Uzbekistan's Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry and the National Scientific Research Institute of Biopharmaceuticals visited South Korea to examine the country's leading research and educational institutions and discuss cooperation in biopharmaceuticals, according to the pharmaceutical development agency.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation inspected Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) laboratories at the Korea National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (K-NIBRT). The specialists focused on operational areas related to CAR-T cell therapy and biopharmaceutical development.
The delegates also toured the Biopharma AX laboratory to review its GMP infrastructure, which is dedicated to manufacturing biotechnological products and monoclonal antibodies.
Specialized training and scientific research formed a central part of the visit. The delegation reviewed the educational infrastructure of the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing, which specializes in microbial biopharmaceutical processes. Additionally, delegates visited laboratories at the Yonsei University College of Medicine to inspect facilities used for animal-based scientific research.
The itinerary included meetings with scientists, professors, and industry leaders to discuss workforce training tailored to modern pharmaceutical industry demands, practical skill development, and the application of South Korean expertise in Uzbekistan.
Following the meetings, the sides established priority areas for future collaboration. The agreed steps include joint scientific research projects, exchange programs for scientists and specialists, and the modernization of Uzbekistan's biopharmaceutical workforce training system based on international standards.
