Uzbekistan Doubles Trade with EDB Member Countries Over Five Years
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's trade turnover with member states of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) reached US$19.3 billion at the end of 2025, doubling compared with 2020, according to the EDB. These countries accounted for approximately 30 percent of Uzbekistan's total foreign trade in goods.
Uzbekistan joined the EDB in 2025, becoming the bank's seventh member state alongside Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. In 2026, the bank began full-scale operational activities in the country, including building its investment portfolio and expanding collaboration with Uzbek partners.
Over the five-year period, Uzbekistan's trade volume with EDB member countries grew by approximately US$10 billion. The bank attributes this momentum to the deepening of regional economic ties, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and the expansion of industrial cooperation.
The majority of trade volume is concentrated with Russia and Kazakhstan, which together account for 85 percent of Uzbekistan's trade turnover with EDB member states. In 2025, trade with Russia totaled US$11.7 billion, while trade with Kazakhstan reached US$4.7 billion. These were followed by Kyrgyzstan at US$1.1 billion, Belarus at US$0.9 billion, Tajikistan at US$0.8 billion, and Armenia at US$0.04 billion.
In the structure of Uzbekistan's imports from EDB countries, petroleum and petroleum products, ferrous metals, timber, cereals, and metallurgical products predominated.
Uzbekistan's exports to the bank's member states consisted primarily of light industry and agribusiness products, including apparel, fruits and nuts, cotton, vegetables, and automotive components.
According to EDB estimates, the expansion of mutual trade with the bank's member states creates opportunities for further boosting intraregional trade turnover while strengthening Uzbekistan's investment and industrial capacity.
