Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is ready to support joint projects between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, including through co-financing major initiatives, the ADB reported.
On 14 September in Seoul, ADB President Masato Kanda met with South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Koo Yun-cheol.
A key topic of the talks was expanding cooperation between South Korea and Central Asian countries in critical minerals, artificial intelligence and energy.
Masato Kanda said the bank was ready to support the implementation of joint projects, including through participation in their co-financing.
According to him, cooperation on critical minerals should move toward concrete investment projects.
The sides also discussed the early launch and further operations of the Center for Innovation and Development in Artificial Intelligence.
The ADB announced plans to establish the center in May in Samarkand. It will be based in Seoul with support from the government of the Republic of Korea.
By 2035, the center plans to help train around 3 million people in digital and artificial intelligence skills.
The talks also covered the application of Korean technologies and expertise in ADB energy projects in Central Asia.
The sides discussed opportunities to further use relevant solutions as part of regional initiatives being implemented by the bank.
