Uzbekistan Discusses Launch of Spring Airlines Flights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is considering attracting Chinese carrier Spring Airlines to the local aviation market. The issue was discussed during a meeting between the Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Abdulaziz Akkulov, and the airline’s management on the sidelines of the ITB China international exhibition in Shanghai.
The meeting was attended by Spring Airlines President Wang Wei, Chief Executive Officer Zhang Xuzhi, and Chairman of the Board Wang Yu.
The sides discussed the development of tourism ties between Uzbekistan and China, expansion of route networks, and the use of transit potential. One of the key topics of the talks was the prospect of launching Spring Airlines flights to Uzbekistan.
Participants also exchanged views on organizing air connections between cities in both countries and developing new routes aimed at increasing tourist flows.
In addition, the parties discussed potential joint marketing initiatives aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential among Chinese travelers. Special attention was given to promoting the country through the Spring Travel corporate platform.
Spring Airlines was founded in 2005 as part of the Shanghai Spring International Travel Service group. The airline began operating international flights in 2010.
The carrier currently operates a fleet of more than 130 Airbus aircraft. It serves over 190 domestic routes in China and more than 50 international destinations across East and Southeast Asia.
