Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and the Association of Umrah Pilgrimage Travel Agencies held discussions on the further development of pilgrimage and religious tourism, as well as the expansion of the "Umrah Plus" project. The meeting, attended by Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee S. Tadjiev, took place on 3 August 2026.

The parties reviewed key aspects of cooperation under the "Umrah Plus" framework, focusing on promoting pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan, tapping into new foreign markets, and implementing joint initiatives.

During the meeting, Association representatives presented an overview of their activities during the elapsed period of 2026, highlighting completed projects, organized events, achieved outcomes, and future development plans.

According to the Association, international "Umrah Plus" exhibitions have already been organized jointly with the Tourism Committee in Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Morocco, and Uzbekistan. The events brought together over 2,000 participants, including representatives from government bodies, the tourism industry, international companies, and local residents. Uzbek travel companies participating in the expos established around ten partnership agreements with foreign entities.

Special focus was given to the international exhibition held on 27–28 June at the Humo Arena complex in Tashkent. The event featured over 200 representatives from tour operators, the hospitality sector, and transport and logistics companies across Central Asia, Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.

Following the meeting, the Association proposed extending its partnership with the Tourism Committee to organize a series of international exhibitions in 2027 to promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential across ten foreign countries.
