Uzbekistan Approves Rules for Leasing Water Fund Land
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Cabinet of Ministers has approved regulations governing the conversion of open collector-drainage networks into closed drainage systems and the leasing of water fund land to businesses. The rules were adopted under Resolution No. 362 on 2 July 2026.
Under the regulations, district and city administrations, together with organizations responsible for water facilities, will submit proposals to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regional administrations to lease water fund land created following the conversion of open collector-drainage networks into closed drainage systems through electronic online auctions. The land is intended for business activities.
The regulations stipulate that the winner of the electronic online auction will carry out the construction and installation work required to convert the open collector-drainage networks into closed drainage systems. The work must be completed in accordance with the parameters set out in the approved design and cost documentation.
The document also prohibits changing the land category of water fund plots created as a result of the modernization of drainage infrastructure.
In addition, the winner of the electronic online auction is required to ensure the proper technical condition and routine maintenance of the closed drainage systems located on the leased water fund land.
