Uzbekistan Authorities Seize Drugs in Nationwide Operations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have conducted special operations across several regions of Uzbekistan to suppress the illegal turnover of narcotics. The operations were carried out as part of the "Safe and Healthy Country" operational and preventive measures.

In the Naryn district of the Namangan region, law enforcement officers searched the home of a local resident born in 1961 and seized 1 kilogram and 595 grams of marijuana. According to the investigation, the narcotic substance was stored for the purpose of subsequent sale.

Another case was uncovered in the Chartak district of the Namangan region, where a man born in 1973 was growing 839 cannabis bushes on his household plot for future sale.

In the Samarkand region, authorities searched a vehicle in the Taylak district and seized 20 grams of heroin from a resident of the Urgut district born in 1995.

In the Khorezm region, a resident of the Koshkupyr district born in 1962, who had a prior conviction for a drug trafficking offense, was found to be growing 36 cannabis bushes.

In the city of Yangiyul in the Tashkent region, another citizen with a prior conviction for similar crimes, born in 1973, had set up a greenhouse on his property where he was cultivating 22 cannabis bushes.

A similar case was recorded in the Kurgantepa district of the Andijan region, where a local resident born in 1965 was growing 10 cannabis bushes on a household plot.

Pre-investigation checks are currently being conducted for all identified cases.
