Uzbekistan and UAE Expand Economic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates have discussed expanding cooperation in new areas of the economy, including investment, tourism, and financial technologies. The talks took place during a meeting between UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and a senior Uzbek delegation.

During the discussions, the sides focused on strengthening partnership in sustainable development and broadening cooperation across key priority sectors, including the new economy, tourism, aviation, fintech, transport, and renewable energy.

Particular attention was given to food security, logistics, industrial production, infrastructure, and the banking sector.

The Uzbek delegation included Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev, and Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov.

According to Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the partnership between the two countries continues to strengthen. He noted that more than 2,300 companies with Uzbek capital are currently operating in the UAE, reflecting a high level of business activity and mutual interest.

The UAE official stressed that the meeting is aimed at moving from discussions of opportunities to the implementation of concrete joint projects that would support economic growth and deeper engagement between the business communities of both countries.

The UAE side also presented key economic reforms aimed at supporting a competitive and open business environment. These include measures to expand liquidity for companies, reduce operational costs, and simplify customs procedures to stimulate the private sector and attract investment into new areas of the economy.

The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation under the Investopia Tashkent initiative, held in partnership with the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The event will focus on investment opportunities in new economy sectors across the UAE, Uzbekistan, and the broader Asian region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing a flexible and favorable business environment aimed at expanding economic cooperation and implementing joint projects.
