Three Pharma Companies Refund 100 Million Soums Over Price Gouging

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Competition Development Committee reported that three pharmaceutical companies have voluntarily refunded funds received as a result of unjustified price markups on medicinal drugs.

The total amount of refunded funds reached approximately 100 million soums.

According to the agency, the violations were identified during an analysis of information received through the Fair Tech unified information system. The check revealed instances of non-compliance with established prices by NIKA PHARM, Astor Alliance, and EVRO FARM BIZNES.

Specifically, NIKA PHARM sold "Gastromeg Ezo (Nika Pharm)" 40 mg capsules No. 20 with violations, Astor Alliance sold "Dolgit" cream 50 g and "Mezym Forte 10000" tablets No. 20, and EVRO FARM BIZNES sold "Brovensin (World Medicine)" syrup in 100 ml bottles.

As noted by the committee, after studying information received from the Tax Committee regarding the existence of unjustified income, the companies voluntarily eliminated the identified violations and took measures to return the excess funds received.

The Competition Development Committee urged pharmaceutical market participants to comply with legislative requirements, regularly analyze applied trade markups using the Fair Tech information system, and voluntarily resolve any violations upon detection.
