Sherzod Khodjaev Appointed Energy Minister of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Sherzod Khodjaev has been appointed Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan under a decree signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Prior to his new appointment, Khodjaev led the Energy Market Development and Regulatory Agency. In connection with his appointment as minister, he has been relieved of his post as director of the agency.

Earlier, Sherzod Khodjaev's candidacy was approved by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

Jurabek Mirzamahmudov has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Jurabek Mirzamahmudov had headed the Ministry of Energy for nearly four years since September 2022. Prior to his appointment to this post, he led the Uzatom agency and the Uzkimyosanoat company. In 2019–2020, Mirzamahmudov also served as First Deputy Minister of Energy and Director General of Uzatom.

Sherzod Khikmatullaevich Khodjaev has extensive experience in Uzbekistan's energy sector.

In 1998–2001, he worked as a software engineer and Category III software engineer at the energy management automation enterprise under the Ministry of Energy and Electrification.

In 2001–2003, Khodjaev held the position of Category II software engineer at the EnergoABTsozlash subsidiary of the Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company.

In 2004–2005, he worked as a manager at the private firm Azizkhon va Ugli. In 2005–2006, he continued his work within the Uzbekenergo system, serving as Category II and Category I engineer in the field of information technology and automated control systems.

In 2006–2008, Khodjaev worked at the Energosotish branch of Uzbekenergo, successively holding positions as Category I engineer, lead engineer in the energy consumption analysis and forecasting department, and lead engineer in the consolidated information analysis department. In 2008, he headed the Energosotish service of Tashkent Electrical Networks OJSC, and in 2008–2010, he led the consolidated information analysis department of the Energosotish branch.

In 2010–2017, Khodjaev served as Deputy Director for Long-Term Development at the Energosotish branch of Uzbekenergo JSC. In 2017–2018, he served as Director of the branch.

In 2018–2019, Khodjaev headed the Directorate for the Implementation and Coordination of ASCAE and AMRC LLC at Uzbekenergo JSC.

In 2019–2023, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 2023, Khodjaev headed the Project Office for Electricity Sector Reform under the Ministry of Energy.

Since 2024, he led the Energy Market Development and Regulatory Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
