Uzbekneftegaz Establishes National Drilling Company UNG Burg'ilash
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — JSC Uzbekneftegaz has established a new limited liability company, UNG Burg'ilash, which will serve as the country’s national drilling company and work to expand Uzbekistan's drilling capabilities in line with international standards. According to the press service of Uzbekneftegaz, the initiative is expected to create over 1,000 new jobs.
The state energy firm noted that the new entity was created to deploy modern technologies for deep-well drilling, establish a national school of drilling engineering, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the oil and gas sector. Moving forward, UNG Burg'ilash also plans to expand oilfield service operations into international markets, including neighboring countries.
The company's primary objective will be conducting drilling operations across oil and gas fields on the Ustyurt Plateau and other high-potential regions of Uzbekistan, identifying new hydrocarbon reserves, and supporting stable production levels.
To equip UNG Burg'ilash, Uzbekneftegaz is purchasing 21 modern ZJ-70 and ZJ-90 drilling rigs equipped with digital control systems capable of reaching depths of up to 9,000 meters. Equipment deliveries to Uzbekistan are scheduled to begin in October of this year. Uzbekneftegaz reported that the new rigs are designed to operate efficiently under extreme geological conditions, including high pressures and temperatures.
Additionally, the company is systematically procuring equipment required for the full technological cycle of drilling operations. This includes high-pressure cementing fleets, nitrogen and compressor units, well testing and completion tools, as well as specialized machinery and transport.
A key focus of the new enterprise will be attracting engineers and specialists with international experience. UNG Burg'ilash also plans to collaborate with leading global oilfield service companies in areas such as drilling fluid preparation, cementing, logging, drill bit supply and operation, and well testing.
According to Uzbekneftegaz's press service, integrating modern technology and global best practices will improve well construction quality, mitigate technical risks, shorten drilling timelines, and increase overall production efficiency.
Company leadership expects the creation of UNG Burg'ilash to mark a new phase in national drilling development, accelerating the exploitation of prospective fields, expanding the domestic hydrocarbon resource base, and establishing a foundation for long-term growth in Uzbekistan's energy industry.
