Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek Culture Minister Ozodbek Nazarbekov and Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in culture and the arts. The meeting was held at the Uzbekistan International Forums Palace.
The sides reviewed the current state of cultural ties, existing areas of cooperation and prospects for their expansion. Particular attention was paid to developing contacts between cultural institutions of the two countries, creative exchanges and the implementation of joint projects.
The legal framework for cooperation is based on an agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Türkiye on cooperation in culture, signed on 30 April 2018. An additional mechanism for cooperation was established through a protocol on developing cooperation between the two countries’ culture ministries, signed on 6 June 2024 during an official visit.
These documents have provided a basis for expanding cultural exchanges, creative meetings and joint initiatives between Uzbekistan and Türkiye in recent years.
During the talks, the sides discussed exchanging experience, developing contacts between creative groups and artists, organizing cultural events, and joint work in film, theatre, music, literature and other areas.
The sides also emphasized the need to make more effective use of existing cooperation mechanisms and promote new initiatives across various areas of culture and the arts.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed interest in further expanding creative exchanges and increasing the number of joint cultural projects.
The development of cooperation is expected to contribute to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties and expanding dialogue between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
