Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — On 12 June, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with representatives of the global financial advisory group Rothschild & Co.
The delegation included Arielle Malard de Rothschild, member of the Supervisory Board of Rothschild & Co; Giovanni Salvetti, Head of CIS countries; Bobur Abdinazarov, Chairman of UzAssets; and other senior officials.
Rothschild & Co is one of the world’s most prestigious and historically significant financial institutions, with a legacy spanning over 200 years. The firm holds a leading position in financial advisory, asset management, investment facilitation, private equity, and banking services. It operates in over 40 countries, serving clients from both the public and private sectors.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed Uzbekistan’s ongoing privatization efforts and assessed the current results. Special focus was placed on the privatization of state-owned banks in collaboration with international financial institutions, particularly regarding preparations for initial public offerings (IPOs).
Discussions also addressed the attraction of large strategic investors, the expansion of the private sector’s role in the economy, and the development of Uzbekistan’s financial markets based on transparency, competitiveness, and international best practices.
As a result of the meeting, both sides agreed to implement joint measures to promote innovative approaches in privatization and finance, bring the banking sector in line with international standards, and ensure transparent and open IPO-driven privatization of state assets.
