Uzbekistan and Myanmar Plan Joint Business Forum in August
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Myanmar have discussed preparations for a joint business forum, which is planned to be held in August during an upcoming visit of a delegation from Myanmar to Uzbekistan.
The agreements were reached during a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with a delegation from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), led by Secretary General Khin Khin Nwe.
As noted during the negotiations, around 50 representatives from leading companies and business circles in Myanmar are expected to participate in the business forum.
The parties identified promising areas of cooperation, including agriculture, food, textiles, footwear, pharmaceuticals, electrical, and chemical industries, as well as jewelry manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and education.
The representatives from Myanmar praised Uzbekistan's investment climate, industrial infrastructure, and manufacturing potential. The Uzbek side, in turn, highlighted the opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership, suggesting that Uzbekistan could serve as a gateway to the CIS markets, while Myanmar could provide access to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) market.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to step up direct contacts between entrepreneurs, expand cooperation between industry associations, and sign a memorandum of understanding between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.
