Uzbekistan and Iraqi Kurdistan expand tourism cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of tourism, developing investment partnerships, and strengthening business ties between travel companies from both sides.

The issues were reviewed during a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Sardor Bobokalonov, and the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Gailan Said Aziz.

The parties noted the need to fully utilize the potential of bilateral tourist exchanges and advocated for the intensification of direct contacts between tour operators. Plans include the joint development of tourism products in the fields of historical-cultural, family, and pilgrimage tourism.

Particular attention during the talks was paid to investment cooperation. Representatives of the business community of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq were invited to participate in the development of tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan, including projects for the construction of mountain resorts and hotel complexes.

In addition, the Iraqi side received an invitation to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which is viewed as a platform for finding new partners and conducting business negotiations in a B2B format.
