Uzbekistan and France Expand Healthcare Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Health Minister Eldor Adilov held talks with French Ambassador to Uzbekistan Walid Fouque to discuss prospects for expanding bilateral healthcare cooperation and implementing new joint projects.

The participants noted that Uzbek-French cooperation has reached a new level in recent years.

Key factors behind the development of relations included French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Uzbekistan in 2023, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to France in 2025, and regular high-level political dialogue.

The sides highly assessed the establishment of a branch of the Gustave Roussy cancer center in Uzbekistan, noting its importance for the development of cancer care services in the country.

The meeting focused on new areas of cooperation, including internships for Uzbek medical specialists at leading French clinics, the introduction of medical insurance mechanisms and reimbursement systems for medicine costs.

Special attention was given to the possibility of implementing pilot projects with French companies to create modern trauma centers in the resort areas of Amirsoy, Aktash, Khumson and Chimgan in the Tashkent region, as well as equipping medical institutions with modern diagnostic equipment.

The parties also discussed the development of institutional cooperation with leading French medical organizations, including the Gustave Roussy cancer center and the Rothschild Foundation.

Following the talks, the sides agreed on the practical implementation of joint projects, coordination of further work and continuation of regular dialogue between relevant authorities.
