Uzbek President congratulates Joachim Gauck

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has sent a congratulatory letter to Joachim Gauck on the latter’s election as President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

A far-reaching majority of lawmakers elected Joachim Gauck as Germany's new president Sunday. He received 991 of the 1,232 ballots cast.

Five of six German parties, including party of Chancellor +Angela Merkel, nominated Joachim Gauck to the post of the president.
