Uzbekistan Shares Human Rights Experience at Beijing Forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A forum on global human rights governance was held in Beijing on 11–12 June 2026, bringing together representatives from more than 100 countries, international organisations, academic and expert communities, and national human rights institutions.

The event, titled the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance, focused on contemporary challenges and prospects for the development of the global human rights system. This year’s forum was held under the theme: “Common Development, Shared Human Rights: The 40th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development and a New Vision for Global Human Rights Governance.”

The forum was organised by the Information Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the China Society for Human Rights Studies, and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development.

Deputy Director of the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights Dilnoza Muratova participated in the event.

In her address to the plenary session, Muratova highlighted the importance of ensuring equal access for all countries and peoples to opportunities necessary for the realisation of the right to development, four decades after the adoption of the relevant declaration.

She presented Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms aimed at building a social state, with particular emphasis on human capital development, access to quality education, social protection systems, and improving living standards.

She noted that under the Uzbekistan–2030 Strategy, investment in people, education, and knowledge is considered a key factor for sustainable development and improving the quality of life.

The Uzbek representative also introduced the country’s experience in promoting human rights education and supporting socio-economic development, and invited participants to the Fifth Samarkand Human Rights Forum to be held in September this year.

The forum also addressed global challenges including digital transformation, climate change, and socio-economic inequality. More than 400 representatives from government bodies, international organisations, and the United Nations took part in the discussions.

Participants exchanged views on improving global human rights governance, implementing the right to development in the era of artificial intelligence, and modernising social systems.

The forum also presented China’s National Human Rights Action Plan for 2026–2030.

Participants stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and developing effective mechanisms for implementing the right to development under current global conditions.
