Chinaz District Hokim Proposes "Shame Houses" for Poor Upkeep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Chinaz District Hokim Sherzod Solikhov has proposed assigning mahallas and individual houses a "shame" status for unsatisfactory landscaping and maintenance conditions.

At a meeting reviewing work carried out in the Birlik mahalla, the district administration head criticised the results of efforts to improve the area. According to him, the mahalla located along a road had been designated as a priority area by the regional hokim, but an inspection revealed a number of shortcomings.

According to the district hokimiyat, flowers and basil had not been planted in the mahalla, grass had not been mowed and already cut vegetation had not been removed. The work on landscaping, maintaining sanitary conditions, reviewing citizens' appeals and implementing previously assigned tasks was also assessed as unsatisfactory.

Following the meeting, Sherzod Solikhov symbolically declared Birlik mahalla a "shame mahalla" and instructed that a corresponding sign be installed in a visible location.

Heads of enterprises and organisations responsible for the mahallas were also instructed to personally monitor the condition of the territories, accelerate landscaping work and regularly submit photo reports on the completion of assigned tasks.

In addition, the hokim said that signs reading "Shame House" could be placed on individual homes whose owners fail to restore proper order in a timely manner.

Following the meeting, responsible officials were instructed to eliminate the identified shortcomings as soon as possible, improve the effectiveness of their work and ensure the implementation of the given instructions.

In conclusion, the district administration head emphasised that every official must understand their responsibility and achieve practical results in the interests of residents.
