Andijan Allocates 730 Million Soums for Guinness Record
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The khokim of the Andijan Region ordered the allocation of 730 million soums from the regional budget's reserve fund to finance events related to setting the record and including the "Andijan Polka" dance in the Guinness World Records.
According to local authorities, the decision was made based on a memorandum from the head of the regional khokimiyat secretariat and an appeal from the regional cultural department.
The allocated funds are intended to cover expenses associated with implementing the record-setting project and its international documentation.
In late June, a large-scale cultural event took place in Andijan, during which thousands of participants simultaneously performed the "Andijan Polka". Following the event, the dance was officially included in the Guinness World Records.
The event was also marred by a tragic incident.
On the day of the event, a 15-year-old schoolboy who was supposed to participate in the mass performance of the dance died in a traffic accident.
The vehicle carrying the schoolchildren was involved in an accident on the way to the event venue.
