Bukhara Region and Minsk Sign Sports Cooperation Memorandum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Bukhara region and the Belarusian capital of Minsk have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of sports. The document was signed in Minsk on 29 July, the Minsk City Executive Committee's press service said.
The memorandum provides for cooperation in the training and professional development of specialists and athletes, the organization of joint training camps, and participation by representatives of both sides in sporting competitions.
Maksim Voropay, head of the Main Sports Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, said Uzbek athletes have traditionally achieved strong results in combat sports.
He said the two sides also plan to develop cooperation in football, swimming, and athletics. The partnership will include the training of young athletes and elite-level competitors.
Voropay said the memorandum is expected to promote the development of mass participation in sports and expand cooperation between Minsk and the Bukhara region.
