O’zbekgidroenergo Holds Open Dialogue with Entrepreneurs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Islom Abdurakhmonov, Chairman of the Board of JSC O’zbekgidroenergo, held an open dialogue with entrepreneurs on 11 August 2026 at the UzHydroPower plant located in the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region.
The event focused on advancing hydropower development, expanding the construction of small and micro hydropower plants (HPPs), and increasing private sector involvement through public-private partnerships.
Participants in the meeting included senior executives from JSC Gidroproyekt and other subsidiaries of O’zbekgidroenergo, representatives from JSCB Turonbank, and approximately 20 entrepreneurs.
At the beginning of the meeting, participants received a detailed presentation outlining O’zbekgidroenergo’s ongoing projects, prospective initiatives in small and micro HPP construction, local manufacturing capabilities, and new opportunities for private investors.
The discussions covered practical aspects of project execution—including selecting optimal construction sites, preparing project documentation, choosing technical solutions, sourcing hydropower equipment, performing installation work, and commissioning facilities.
Entrepreneurs raised questions directly with industry specialists regarding project design and cost estimation, technical compliance, equipment procurement, construction logistics, facility commissioning, and project financing.
Representatives from Turonbank detailed preferential loan terms, financing mechanisms, and procedural requirements for developers.
O’zbekgidroenergo reaffirmed its commitment to supporting private sector initiatives from initial design to final operational launch, emphasizing prompt, on-site resolution of emerging issues.
As part of the event, attendees toured the manufacturing facilities of the UzHydroPower plant, which operates as a joint venture with China's Zhejiang Jinlun Electromechanic Co., Ltd. The plant produces hydro units, turbines, generators, pumping equipment, and metal structures for reservoirs with capacities ranging from 1 kW to 40 MW.
The facility's production capacity aims to support small and micro HPP projects with localized, competitive equipment.
Following the dialogue, officials reviewed proposals submitted by entrepreneurs, outlined practical solutions, and assigned specific tasks to responsible personnel to accelerate private HPP development.
