Tashkent Allocates 21.48 Billion Soums for Urban Improvement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent's City Council of People's Deputies has approved the allocation of 21.48 billion soums from additional local budget revenues for urban improvement, the development of city infrastructure and support for social facilities.

The largest share of the funding will be allocated to greening projects. A total of 11.95 billion soums has been earmarked for the purchase of seasonal flowers and ornamental shrubs to be planted along the capital's central and most important streets.

Another 2.15 billion soums will be allocated to the department responsible for landscaping the city's central squares, while 900 million soums will go to the department responsible for maintaining the grounds of state-owned facilities.

In addition, 3.8 billion soums will be allocated to the department responsible for improving and landscaping the city's major streets. The funding will come from local budget revenues that exceeded the planned target in the second quarter.

Part of the additional funding will support social projects. In particular, 248 million soums has been allocated for the purchase of equipment for the Tashkent Tourism and Hospitality Management College, while 40.4 million soums will be used to strengthen the material and technical base of the city branch of the Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis.

In addition, 2.39 billion soums will be allocated for the capital renovation of the building and interior premises of the Bilim Information and Library Center.
