Uzbek Authorities Uncover Foreign Job Scams in Three Regions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and internal affairs bodies have uncovered three fraud schemes involving promises of foreign employment, official agencies said.
Criminal cases have been opened for all three incidents under Article 168 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers fraud. Investigative actions are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of each case.
In Tashkent, a previously convicted man born in 1985 offered six residents of the Kashkadarya region employment in Slovakia through his acquaintances, demanding 145 million soums for his assistance. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect with physical evidence while he was receiving an advance payment of 85 million soums.
In a separate case in the capital, the head of a limited liability company offering overseas visa consultancy services promised to help a citizen born in 2002 secure employment in Germany. The suspect was apprehended with physical evidence after receiving US$4,000 for visa processing and job placement support.
A third scheme was exposed in the Tashkent region, where a female resident of the Zangiata district born in 1993 gained the trust of an Angren resident born in 2000 by offering assistance with employment in South Korea. She was arrested after accepting US$5,900 to arrange a visa and job placement.
