Uzbekistan Migration Agency Recovers US$570,000 for Workers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Migration Agency of Uzbekistan helped recover US$570,000 in unpaid wages and compensation from foreign employers for Uzbek citizens during the first seven months of 2026. The agency handled 622 appeals from citizens concerning wages and compensation, the Migration Agency said.
The largest number of appeals related to wages and compensation came from Russia, with 375 cases.
In Turkey, 129 such appeals were handled, while 85 were recorded in South Korea and 33 in other countries.
In addition to wage-related issues, the agency assisted in recovering identity documents withheld by intermediaries and foreign employers. Documents were returned to 383 Uzbek citizens.
Of these cases, 182 were in Russia, 185 in Türkiye, 11 in Kazakhstan and five in South Korea.
Thus, during the first seven months of 2026, the Migration Agency’s work focused on addressing problems faced by Uzbek citizens working abroad, including issues involving wages, compensation and identity documents.
