Tashkent discusses transition to green economy through skills reform

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — National stakeholders in Uzbekistan held discussions in Tashkent on May 25, 2026, focusing on measures to promote the country’s transition to a green economy through skills development and policy alignment in education, labor market, and climate-related areas.

During the discussions, participants reviewed the integration of green competencies into technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems, as well as into higher education. Special attention was given to aligning approaches across key areas of public policy.

The sides confirmed their readiness to move from discussions to practical implementation of the outlined initiatives.

The measures include reform of curricula, strengthening institutional capacity, and enhancing interagency coordination.

The outcomes are expected to be used in the development of a national roadmap and to contribute to the expansion of regional cooperation within the CAREC Program.
