Bodies of Uzbek Citizens Killed in Tatarstan Drone Attack Repatriated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The bodies of eight Uzbek citizens killed during a drone attack in Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, were repatriated to Uzbekistan on 12 August 2026 via a special flight.

The attack occurred on 10 August 2026, targeting several facilities in the city of Nizhnekamsk. As a result of the incident at a local construction enterprise, eight citizens of Uzbekistan were killed, while several others sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.

Following instructions from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a government commission was formed to coordinate response efforts. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, Migration Agency, and other relevant state bodies took steps to arrange the return of the deceased, provide medical assistance to the injured, and extend support to their families.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation B. Asadov and Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan N. Kosimov arrived at the scene to assist affected nationals and meet with local authorities.

Following operational coordination, the bodies of the deceased were flown back to Uzbekistan on 12 August 2026.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with Russian authorities, continues to monitor all matters related to the incident, including ongoing medical and organizational assistance to the injured citizens.
