Syrdarya’ region economy grows by 5.2% in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product of Syrdarya region increased by 5.2% year-on-year in 2009 and retail trade turnover rose by 13.1%.

The volume of rendered service grew by 24.3% and construction works increased by 16.2%, UzA reported. It said industrial output of the region increased by 9.3% and the volume of capital investments up 40%.

The report said the region carried out modernization and re-equipment of enterprises. In particular, modernization works for uS$216,000 were carried out at Gulistonextraktyoug, US$517,000 at Hovosdonmashulotlari. Boyovunt Pakhta Tozalash carried out reconstruction works for 5.6 billion soums.

The region attracted investments for US$22.7 million within the regional investment programme.
