Iran's Abrisham Eyes Uzbekistan BioPharma City Investment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry hosted representatives of Iranian company Abrisham Tajhiz Daroo on June 17, opening dialogue on potential investment in medical device manufacturing and high-technology production.
The Uzbek side briefed the Iranian delegation on the reform landscape shaping the country's pharmaceutical and medical industry, alongside measures to improve the investment climate. A dedicated presentation covered the opportunities available within BioPharma City — Uzbekistan's innovative pharmaceutical cluster positioned as the primary hub for attracting foreign and domestic capital into the sector.
Abrisham Tajhiz Daroo's representatives signalled interest in examining the Uzbek market more closely and evaluating specific investment project opportunities in medical devices and high-tech goods manufacturing. Discussions also touched on the prospect of locating production facilities within BioPharma City at a future stage — an indication that the Iranian firm is considering a manufacturing presence rather than purely commercial operations.
While the talks remain at an exploratory stage, the meeting reflects Uzbekistan's active effort to diversify the geographic origins of its pharmaceutical sector investors. BioPharma City has previously drawn interest from European, Asian, and Gulf-based players; Iranian participation would add a further regional dimension to the cluster's investor base.
Both parties agreed to continue dialogue on investment cooperation, joint project implementation, and potential production localisation — the standard framing for early-stage engagements that Uzbekistan's investment promotion bodies have been pursuing across multiple sectors simultaneously.
