Sojitz to Develop US$5.9 Billion Projects in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kasimov held talks on 14 May with representatives of Japan’s Sojitz Corporation, which is implementing a number of large-scale investment projects in the country.
During the meeting, it was noted that Sojitz is currently involved in 12 projects in Uzbekistan with a total value of US$5.87 billion, of which Japanese investment accounts for US$2.27 billion.
The parties discussed the implementation progress of the roadmap signed in August 2025. Key attention was given to infrastructure and energy projects, including the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent, a multi-profile 800-bed clinic in Samarkand, and a 1,000 MW wind power plant in Navoi region.
Representatives of Sojitz also expressed interest in establishing similar medical centers in Bukhara and Andijan regions.
Following the talks, the Japanese side confirmed the participation of the corporation’s leadership in the anniversary 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum.
