Mirziyoyev Meets Azerbaijani Economy Minister

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov on 17 July 2026 during the minister's working visit to the country. The sides discussed the further development of the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, with a focus on trade and economic cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Jabbarov conveyed greetings and best wishes from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Uzbek leader.

The meeting noted that bilateral trade increased by 15% last year, while trade turnover has risen by about 40% since the beginning of this year.

The sides also reviewed the implementation of joint projects in development, energy, geology, logistics, finance, the fuel and energy sector, the textile industry and tourism. They also highlighted the work of the joint Investment Company, which is participating in the implementation of several bilateral initiatives.

Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of thoroughly preparing the economic agenda for upcoming high-level meetings.

The Uzbek president also welcomed the outcomes of the meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council held earlier that day and emphasized the need to ensure practical results from the upcoming Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Regional Forum.
