Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan signed a new package of agreements on investment, industrial cooperation and mineral resource development during the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation and the Business Council held in Tashkent on 17 July.

The meeting brought together representatives of government agencies and leading business circles from both countries to discuss prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, investment partnership and industrial cooperation.

The participants noted that bilateral trade grew by nearly 40% in January–May 2026 and reaffirmed their shared goal of increasing annual trade turnover to US$1 billion.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of joint projects in geological exploration, precious metals mining, the textile industry, tourism and urban development. The sides also discussed initiatives in the pharmaceutical, electrical engineering and food industries, as well as in the production of construction materials.

Particular attention was given to strengthening interregional cooperation, preparations for the fourth Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum scheduled for August, and expanding the portfolio of projects managed by the joint investment company.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed the protocol of the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, along with a package of bilateral agreements covering investment, financing, industrial cooperation, geological exploration and the development of mineral resources.
