Sizes of zakat, fitr-charity and fiyda set for 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Muslim Board signed a resolution of the Council of Ulems of the board on setting the sums of zakat, fitr-charity and fidya for 2014.

According o the resolution, the sum of zakat set at 170,000 soums. In line with the document, market price of 1 gram of gold is 80,000 soums and 85 grams of gold will cost 6.8 million soums. The 1/40 of this sum will make up 170,000 soums.

The Committee on religious affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, the fitr-charity will be equal to 2,000 soums. The fitr charity is equal to 2 kg of wheat and currently 1 kg of wheat costs 1,000 soums.

The fidya set at 12,000 soums, which is equal to the price of one-day food package.
