Senate hosts negotiations with OSCE/ODIHR mission
At the meeting, the sides considered issues related to the presidential elections, which were held in Uzbekistan on 29 March 2015, the press service of the Senate of Uzbekistan said.
It was noted that Uzbekistan stage-by-stage strengthens mechanisms of implementation of constitutional division of power to legislative, executive and judicial. It was underlined that main goal of newly formed Senate is to strengthen cooperation with foreign partners and study their experience.
Cayetana de Zulueta expressed gratitude for information and invitation to observe presidential elections in Uzbekistan, as well as to support and cooperation.
Ambassador underlined that Uzbekistan implemented previous recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR during changes to the electoral legislation. She said that the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan adhered to all set terms by the legislation and implemented its functions. She said the CEC was open for mass media, political parties and international observers.
She underlined that the OSCE/ODIHR should help Uzbekistan to improve electoral legislation and should organize joint events to discuss recommendations of the organization in the result of the presidential elections.
