Russia, Uzbekistan agreed on gas price

"It is of the utmost importance that our specialists in gas trading have managed to agree on a single gas price formula," Putin told journalists after talks on Tuesday, 2 September, in Tashkent with Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

Putin said that the price would reach European levels. He did not elaborate.

Currently, Gazprom buys Uzbek gas at a price of US$160 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Putin also said that Russia and Uzbekistan had reached an agreement on cooperation in the construction of pipelines in Uzbekistan.
