Raspberry Plantation to Be Launched in Ferghana District
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A large-scale investment project to establish a raspberry plantation is being implemented in Ferghana district as part of the execution of a presidential decree dated 12 January 2026 on the formation of the Ferghana tourism and recreation zone.
The project is being carried out in the “Sanoat” mahalla, where a 33.2-hectare land plot has been leased to the investment company affiliated with Turonbank — LLC “Turon Fergana Boglari.” The plantation will be developed under the principle of “one contour — one product.”
The total cost of the project amounts to 10 billion soums and is financed through the initiator’s own funds. The initiative is expected to create 200 new jobs, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
In the first phase, implemented in the first quarter of 2026, the plantation will be established using water-saving technologies and high-yield foreign raspberry varieties such as “Maravilla” and “Delniwa.” Land plots will also be divided into lots and leased to additional project participants. By the end of 2026, the plantation area is expected to reach 28.2 hectares.
According to estimates, the establishment of one hectare of plantation requires an average investment of 300 million soums, with approximately 12,000 seedlings planted per hectare.
Projected economic indicators show gradual growth. In the first year, average yield is expected to reach 12 tons per hectare, with total revenue of 780 million soums and annual income per worker of around 70 million soums. From the second year, yield is expected to rise to 20 tons, with total revenue increasing to 1.3 billion soums and income per worker reaching 130 million soums. By the third year, yield may reach 25 tons per hectare, generating 1.6 billion soums in total revenue and 160 million soums per worker.
Most of the production will be exported to Kazakhstan, Russia, Türkiye, China, and European countries. Overall, the project is expected to produce around 700 tons of raspberries annually, generate output worth 45.5 billion soums, and contribute up to US$4 million in exports. Approximately 80% of the harvest will be supplied to foreign markets.
The project aims to diversify agriculture, expand export potential, create jobs, and increase household incomes in the region.
