Portugal defeats Slovenia in penalty shootout

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Portugal has advanced to the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 after defeating Slovenia in a penalty shootout.

The regular time of the match ended in a goalless draw (0:0).

In the 105th minute, Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty as Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak made the save.

In the closing moments of the second extra time, Slovenia had a chance to win, but Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved his team.

After goalless extra time, the teams moved on to a penalty shootout.

Diogo Costa saved all three of Slovenia’s penalty attempts. For Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Bernardo Silva successfully scored.

As a result, Portugal has advanced to the quarterfinals of Euro 2024, where they will face France.

Slovenia is eliminated from the tournament.
