Ferghana Neftchi Signs Defender Koffi Kouao From Metz
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana football club Neftchi has signed Ivorian defender Koffi Kouao, who played for French club Metz last season. The player previously represented the club in the French championship, including Ligue 1 matches.
The 27-year-old footballer has played more than 200 official matches in the French and Portuguese championships during his professional career. His primary position is central defender.
Kouao began his career in Portugal, playing for Vitoria Guimaraes and Tondela. He then continued his career in France, where he played for Metz in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
According to Transfermarkt, the defender's market value is estimated at 2.5 million euros. This figure makes Kouao the most valuable player by transfer value among players currently competing in the Uzbekistan championship.
In addition, the defender's transfer from the French championship became one of Neftchi's most notable transfers in recent years and placed Kouao among the most expensive players in the history of the Uzbekistan Super League.
